Privacy Policy

Introduction

PixelMorph ("we", "our", or "us") operates Recaster, a desktop application for DeepFaceLab workflows. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our software and services.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Recaster is designed with privacy in mind — all face processing happens locally on your device, and we do not have access to your images, videos, or processed content.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you purchase a Studio license, we collect your email address for license delivery and support communications.

Usage Analytics (Optional)

If you opt in to analytics, we collect anonymous usage data to improve Recaster:

  • Application version and platform (macOS, Windows, Linux)
  • Feature usage patterns (which tools are used most)
  • Performance metrics (processing times, error rates)
  • License tier (Free or Studio)

Analytics are powered by PostHog and can be disabled at any time in Settings.

Crash Reports (Optional)

If you opt in to crash reporting, we collect error information when the application crashes:

  • Error messages and stack traces
  • System information (OS version, available memory)
  • Application state at time of crash

Crash reports are powered by Sentry and can be disabled at any time in Settings. We filter out any personally identifiable information before transmission.

Content Safety Audit Logs

Recaster maintains local, anonymized logs when content is blocked by our safety systems:

  • Timestamp of blocked event
  • Content type (image or video)
  • Reason for blocking (e.g., "minor detected")
  • Anonymized session identifier

These logs contain no images, videos, or personally identifiable information. They are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to our servers unless required by law enforcement with valid legal process.

Facial Data Processing

Recaster processes facial features to perform face swapping. This section explains how this processing works:

How It Works

  • Face detection locates faces in images and videos
  • Facial landmarks identify key facial features
  • Face embeddings may be generated for matching and swapping
  • Age estimation is used for content safety (Challenge-25 policy)

Where Processing Occurs

Local Processing (Free & Studio): All facial data processing occurs entirely on your local device. Facial data never leaves your computer.

Remote Processing (Studio with Vast.ai): If you use cloud GPU features, facial data is processed on a remote GPU instance that you control and rent directly from Vast.ai. We do not have access to these instances or the data processed on them. Data is deleted when you terminate your instance.

Data Retention

We do not retain facial data. Face embeddings and landmarks are generated in memory during processing and are not stored persistently by Recaster.

Information We Do NOT Collect

Recaster is designed to protect your creative work. We explicitly do not collect:

  • Your images or videos — all processing happens locally on your device
  • Face embeddings or biometric templates — these are processed in memory and not retained
  • Project files or workspaces — your work stays on your computer
  • Training models you create — models are stored locally and never uploaded
  • Browsing history or keystrokes — we don't monitor your activity

Studio Tier & Cloud Services

If you use Studio tier features with cloud GPU training via Vast.ai:

  • Files are transferred directly between your computer and your rented GPU instance
  • We do not store or have access to your files — they exist only on machines you control
  • Training data is deleted when you terminate your instance
  • Vast.ai has its own privacy policy governing their infrastructure

Third-Party Services

Recaster integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Vast.ai (Studio tier) — Cloud GPU rental for remote training
  • Sentry (optional) — Crash reporting and error tracking
  • PostHog (optional) — Product analytics
  • Stripe — Payment processing for Studio licenses
  • Hugging Face — AI model downloads

Each service has its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them if you use these features.
